From the beginning, our philosophy has been centred around one main thing: the mare.
We have built FM around mares that have either performed at the highest level themselves or come directly from families with a proven ability to produce international Grand Prix horses generation after generation. Our mares include 1.50–1.60m performers, Nations Cup horses and close relatives of Olympic, World Cup and championship horses.
When selecting a mare, we look far beyond the pedigree on paper. We consider her own performance, conformation, blood, mentality, character and production, together with the strength and consistency of her maternal family. For us, one exceptional horse in a pedigree is less important than seeing quality and performance repeated through siblings, offspring and successive generations.
The same thought goes into every mating. Stallions are selected individually for each mare, based on what we believe will complement her and strengthen the qualities already present in the family. Our aim is to breed modern, athletic showjumpers with blood, scope, carefulness, rideability and the right mentality to perform at the highest level.
We believe in these families for the long term. By retaining selected fillies from our mares, we can continue developing the maternal lines we believe in and build our own generations within FM.
FM Equestrian was founded in 2018 by Swedish sisters Fanny and Mimmi Andersson, driven by a shared passion for breeding showjumpers and a particular fascination with the mares and maternal families behind the very best horses in the sport.
For us, breeding is about much more than producing a foal — it is about the generations behind it and the generations still to come.
